Automatic Maximum Vertical Zooming
The Automatic Zoom to Peaks option automatically scales the waveform so that it fills the entire vertical space of the window. This allows you to quickly identify the peaks in your audio material, which facilitates working on cross-fades, for example.
You can activate/deactivate automatic maximum vertical zooming of the waveform in the Audio Montage window or in the Audio Editor (both in the main view and the overview) by clicking the Automatic Zoom to Peaks button (1) or by pressing Ctrl/Cmd-Shift-Up Arrow.
A green LED (2) in the center of the scroll wheel indicates that automatic maximum vertical zooming is active.
With Automatic Zoom to Peaks activated, the waveform is automatically scaled vertically to use the maximum space available in this view and to zoom to the peaks of the visible part of the waveform.
Example
While you are scrolling/zooming into a quiet section of your audio material horizontally, the waveform keeps expanding to fill the entire vertical space.
-
The level ruler automatically adapts to the zoom level.
-
Automatic Zoom to Peaks is automatically deactivated when you perform a manual vertical zooming action; for example, via the scroll wheels.
-
The Automatic Zoom to Peaks function is globally applied to all tracks, and to all clips that are displayed in an Audio Montage.
-
The Automatic Zoom to Peaks function only takes effect in the waveform view; it has no effect when you use it in the spectrogram view.
