Creating a Loudness Profile: Version A
You can create a loudness profile for active audio files in the Audio Editor or for selected clips in the Audio Montage window.
Procedure
- Open a file in the Audio Editor, or select clips in the Audio Montage window.
-
Do one of the following:
-
Select
. -
Click the Analyze tab at the top of the Audio Editor or the Audio Montage window, and select Visual Analysis.
-
- Select the Loudness Profile tab.
- Choose from the available options, and set the corresponding parameters.
- Click Analyze.
Result
The results of the analysis are saved and labeled as Version A. They are visually represented in the Waveform view of the Audio Editor or in the selected clips of the Audio Montage.
Color-coded markers indicate hotspots for the respective metering values. You can hover over them to see their value and type.
Hotspots, which are represented by a pair of triangles (one facing up, one facing down), point to values that are considered as particularly relevant for monitoring, because they stand out from the rest of the audio material. Some hotspots apply to all channels or to each stereo channel cluster, while others, such as the values for True Peaks and RMS, refer to a specific audio channel.
In addition to this, you can choose to display the values as a continuous curve. You can hover over any position on a curve to see the value for the corresponding point on the timeline.

After Completing This Task
Additionally, you can create a loudness profile for the files in their rendered state, without the need to actually render them as a separate audio file. The resulting loudness profile, labeled as Version B, allows you to compare the loudness attributes of the unprocessed state with the processed state.
